Chapter 29

I can still taste her as we head to the reception and Damien apparently can’t get enough of it because he keeps kissing me just to force his tongue into my mouth. It’s hot as fuck. To say I can’t wait for tonight is a huge fucking understatement.

Evie’s curled tight into Alexi as we approach the basement where the reception is being held. I can’t always guess Alexi’s moves, but I can usually guess Damien’s. So when they started eating our girl, I knew exactly what they planned to do and how to intercept it.

I wanted her first tonight because I felt like it made us come full circle. I had her first, I earned her trust and protected her from the very beginning. I think that warrants me getting first dibs tonight.

Besides, I know what Damien has planned, and there is no way Evie will be walking after that.

We enter the well lit room just as music starts to play. Cheers erupt from the crowd, and I look around to see mostly students in attendance. It’s what we thought might happen after Alexi made his announcement, but I think it’ll be more fun for all of us this way. We can actually celebrate, and it should start off with the very best game. One of the aides hands me a mic as we get to the center of the room.

“Food tonight will be a buffet of all of Evie’s favorites, but with a small twist.” I give our girl a smirk. We all knew she wanted every kind of steak possible, but she didn’t count on extras.

“We have a special game to play. You see, our beautiful wife has one flaw I just can't look past, and we need to settle this debate once and for all.”

I gesture to a table in the back as two people unveil the large arrangement of pineapple pizza. “You see, my wife does not believe pineapple belongs on pizza. So by the end of the night, we need you to vote. Have a taste and keep an open mind. It might just change your life.”

Evie laughs as she rolls her eyes, but I’m willing to bet she’s about to lose this battle. Speaking of battles, I hand the mic to Damien.

“Hurry up and finish your meals because a dance battle will take place in just under an hour for the chance to win…” He gestures to a large pile of cash stacked on a table by the DJ. “Five hundred thousand dollars.”

Evie’s mouth nearly falls to the floor. Not over the pile of cash, but clearly over the fact that Damien can dance. What many people don’t know is that Damien used to run the stripper scene before he got good at fighting, and he could dance with the best of them. That man has moves that should be illegal. They are so damn sexy.

Alexi takes the mic next. “A high stakes poker game with a ten grand buy in will take place at the tables in the back once the meals have finished.
